MBTI

Hi Reader,

I thought I would try something different today and do a little mini-series of articles. I have been meaning to write about this, but it is a bit of an undertaking.  I am not sure how long it will take me to finish, but it will be a nice project.

Okay, enough exposition, what exactly is the topic here? Have you perhaps heard of MBTI? That stands for: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  Basically it is a personality test.  There are sixteen total personalities, four in each sub-group.  My goal with this series is to give information about each personality type and pair them with a Kdrama character, because why not? Of course, I am limited to the kdramas I have watched, so if you think of a better choice, feel free to let me know.

The Analysts

  1. Architect-INTJ, https://www.16personalities.com/intj-personality directly from the website:  Architects form just two percent of the population, and women of this personality type are especially rare, forming just 0.8% of the population – it is often a challenge for them to find like-minded individuals who are able to keep up with their relentless intellectualism and chess-like maneuvering. People with the Architect personality type are imaginative yet decisive, ambitious yet private, amazingly curious, but they do not squander their energy.
    1. My Kdrama Pick: Lee Yeong Joon from What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, played by Park Seo Joon.

This personality type has a lot in common with most of our arrogant, perfectionist CEOs we see as male leads all over Dramaland. They have oodles of self-confidence (Or as in Secretary Kim, they can even be considered narcissistic) and they give off an aura of mystery.  Most notably, they can be somewhat clueless in romance.  If you have seen What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, then you may remember how in the first few episodes he was terribly clueless while trying to convince his Secretary that if she wanted to marry someone, then she should just marry him so that she could stay his secretary.  Lol.

2. Logician-INTP https://www.16personalities.com/intp-personality directly from the website: The Logician personality type is fairly rare, making up only three percent of the population, which is definitely a good thing for them, as there’s nothing they’d be more unhappy about than being “common”. Logicians pride themselves on their inventiveness and creativity, their unique perspective and vigorous intellect. Usually known as the philosopher, the architect, or the dreamy professor, Logicians have been responsible for many scientific discoveries throughout history.

My Kdrama Pick: Professor Hong Baek Joon from I Am Not A Robot played by Uhm Ki Joon

This character type is likely to be an imaginative inventor, which immediately made me think of this particular drama. But Baek Joon also qualifies for this personality type for a couple of other reasons.  This personality is shy, not really great at conversing, and can be insensitive to others emotions.  (This quality is probably what led to his break up with \They have a fear of failure and can fall into self-doubt.  They can come off as being condescending.   Despite these negative qualities, they can be a loyal partner/friend, and they are probably the smartest person you know.

3. Commander-ENTJ https://www.16personalities.com/entj-personality directly from the website:  Commanders are natural-born leaders. People with this personality type embody the gifts of charisma and confidence, and project authority in a way that draws crowds together behind a common goal. However, Commanders are also characterized by an often ruthless level of rationality, using their drive, determination and sharp minds to achieve whatever end they’ve set for themselves. Perhaps it is best that they make up only three percent of the population, lest they overwhelm the more timid and sensitive personality types that make up much of the rest of the world – but we have Commanders to thank for many of the businesses and institutions we take for granted every day.

My Kdrama Pick: My choice is going to have to be Lee Gun from Fated to Love You as played by Jang Hyuk.

This drama was actually my first ever drama and I remember being struck by how irritating this character was.  He was emotionally distant, super confident, and could be almost ruthless in his treatment of others.   That said, he grew on me.  Especially once he starts falling in love.  He was very energetic and creative in his ways of trying to get closer to the girl.  He was able to take criticism well, and learn from it, rather than get offended.

4. Debater-ENTP https://www.16personalities.com/entp-personality directly from the website:  The Debater personality type is the ultimate devil’s advocate, thriving on the process of shredding arguments and beliefs and letting the ribbons drift in the wind for all to see. Debaters don’t do this because they are trying to achieve some deeper purpose or strategic goal, but for the simple reason that it’s fun. No one loves the process of mental sparring more than Debaters, as it gives them a chance to exercise their effortlessly quick wit, broad accumulated knowledge base, and capacity for connecting disparate ideas to prove their points.

My Kdrama Pick: This one was the easiest for me to pick because a character jumped to mind. Bong Sang Pil from Lawless Lawyer (Attorney) played by Lee Joon Gi.

He is the kind of person who is more than willing to play the devil’s advocate.  He lives to shake things up, and he believes in 100% honesty.  He is confident and intelligent, but also funny and quick on his feet.
